2020: RAW

This is 2020 from my eyes, in its rawest form. When I sit down and make a video, these are the clips that I must dig through to find the moment I am looking for. These are the clips that freeze time and the memories of the moment. These are the RAW clips of my 2020. No Color Grade. No Transitions. No effects. This my 2020 RAW! Thank you to everyone who made my 2020 one hell of a year. The past weeks I have been piecing this video together have been filled with appreciation of you in my life! Thank you to everyone within and without this video! Let's kick 2021's ass! 2020 was a year when everything that could have happened seemed like it did happen. The chaotic nature of those 365 days had me a creative block on how to share my 2020. The reality is that 2020 was so many different things to each of us individually. Some of us went through the toughest times physically and mentally, some caught their big break, others found the time to pursue the passion they've never had time for. I decided that adding to the chaos and madness of this year did not make sense. So I created a compilation of RAW clips without any post-production to provide untouched moments from this year. 2020 was a year of adventure and a surprising amount of travel given the circumstances that rained down on the last half of the year. Broken Boat and Stuck in a Storm // Learning how to Sail | Ep. 25 Month in the Making

My mission to take my sailing skills to their limits continues on the high seas of Croatia 🇭🇷 While this is only my second week on the boat in Croatia, it is my last week with Jack, Sailing Virgins, and the Crew. However, Jack is not done fine-tuning my sailing skills before he sets me free and this week gave me plenty of opportunities to put my newfound sailing wisdom to the test ⛵️ We start the sailing adventures this week with some chaos in the middle of one of the busiest marinas in all of Croatia, Palmizana. You’ll have to witness the madness for yourself, but all I can say is not even a broken boat can hold this crew down. Fear not, however, with the help of some boat technicians we were able to get our sea stallion back out on the waters for a proper regatta against our fellow sailing virgins voyagers ⚓️ I’m not going to reveal who won, but let’s just say the race on the high seas did not come without some proper sailor trash talk. Before you knew it, my final week in Croatia came to a close with the most stormy goodbye you’ve ever witnessed! Right in the middle of executing “Man Overboard” maneuvers the largest storm ⛈ Jack had ever seen in Croatia blew in and soaked the crew. We were forced to execute top-tier touch and goes in the middle of a rainstorm and unload the entire crew and cargo. The chaos of this scene is sure to entertain so make sure to watch till the end. . With each day on the water and every tack of the ship I found myself growing more and more comfortable with life behind the helm and below the sails. Becoming reacquainted with the sensational world of sailing has me stoked for the next two weeks on the water. Sailing is a special world because of its power to bring together people from all corners of the globe. Only halfway through my Month in the Making mission to level up my sailing skills and I am feeling the same addiction to this art on the waves that drew me into this world nearly a decade ago. . With seven out of the twelve months of this midlife awakening mission under my belt, my eyes have been opened to a whole new world of lifestyles and communities. I am beginning to think that this journey can easily grow beyond my initial plan of 12 countries🗺, 12 months🗓, and 12 skill sets⚙️. With friends joining the start of this chapter of the month and then making it also opened my eyes up to the opportunity of many of you joining this adventure wherever it may take us. We've Set Sail // Sailing Lessons in Croatia: Learning how to Sail | Ep. 24 Month in the Making

Chapter 7 Month in the Making has set sail⛵️! This month I Will call the Mediterranean Sea🌊 my home as I attempt to level up my sailing abilities as part of my Month in the Making journey. My sailing adventure will start in Croatia with Sailing Virgins and a long-time friend, Jack Karger, who will be my master for the first couple of weeks refreshing me on the fundamentals essentials of sailing⛵️. I am so excited to share the start of this chapter with some cool friends that decided to hop on this maiden voyage with me given only a week's notice. Sailing and living on open water has always been part of my life, and the passion that fuels this interest is powering my pursuit of this month’s goal to become a next-level sailor. . Ever since my experience with Semester at Sea🌊 where I circumnavigated the globe twice 🌎, I’ve had this urge to see what the world of sailing has to offer in its rawest form. That is why I planned the next four weeks around experiences and opportunities that will have me immersed in all aspects of life on the water using nothing but the wind to move me forward. In this episode, I will be revisiting some of the very basics of Sailing with one of the most knowledgeable Sailing instructors I know, Jack Karger. Tasting Olive Oil in ITALY: Learning to Cook in Italy | Ep. 22 Month in the Making

What goes better with pasta other than OLIVE OIL! After our time at the Pasta Factory in last week's episode, we had to dive just as deep into the world of Olive Oil. Italy is renowned for its artistic use of this traditional ingredient to whip up some of the most delicious flavors in the world. Our time at the Maggi Oliv Oil farm proved just that! I had the opportunity to go deep inside the olive oil operation and take a look at the machinery responsible for extracting this liquid gold from the countryside of Tuscany. . COMMENT BELOW📝 your favorite Olive Oil😋! . In this episode, we reveal what goes on behind the curtain in the olive oil plantation in the midst of the rolling hills of Chianti Italy. The flavor that comes out of this region is unbelievable and to explore in such an intimate way takes my appreciation of food to a whole new level. How to Make Italian Cheese: Learning to Cook in Italy | Ep. 19 Month in The Making

We’re back with another Farm-to-Table journey🧑🏻‍🍳! Cheese is a cornerstone of the Italian diet and culinary culture🧀 My mission to master the culinary art of Italy demanded that I get a hands-on experience to the process that brings those beautiful blocks of cheese to our table each time before a meal 😋 The artisan farm Podere Le Fornaci (http://www.poderelefornaci.it/index.html) opened the doors to their very own Goat Farm 🐐 and Cheese Laboratory 🥼 where I not only witnessed, but participated, in the mind-blowing transformation of Goat Milk into Cheese. It turns out fine-tuning the flavor of natural and organic ingredients is a tactical science just as much as it is an art form. No-one showed me that more than our Cheese Laboratory expert Amanda. An expert in all things cheese and a cheese-lover herself, she had no problem explaining the importance of each step in the cheese-making process. . COMMENT BELOW📝 Your favorite cheese! . My quest to become a culinary artisan and learn to cook in the beautiful country of Italy 🇮🇹 has already taken me behind the curtain of so many delicacies of this beautiful culinary culture. It can’t hurt to report myself that with each experience during this chapter 🇮🇹 of Month in the Making, my eyes are opened to the many misconceptions in the world of cooking, dieting, and food processing that exist throughout the world. The intimate experience I have shared with the artisanal chefs, farmers, and workers in Tuscany, Italy grant me a new sense of appreciation for the food and flavor that seemingly so easily arrives on my plate at each meal. It is going to be tough to work this new perspective of cooking, dieting, and food processing into my day-to-day life as I travel, but will be a fun…and delicious…challenge I have to doubt! . Next week we are taking a break from investigating Italian cuisine and returning to the kitchen for what might be the Best Cooking Class in all of Tuscany! . Rarest Prosciutto in the World: Becoming a Culinary Artisan in Italy | Ep. 18 Month in the Making

Take a bite out of the delicious world of Italian Cold Cuts with me in this episode of Month in the Making 😋. When I set out to master the Culinary Arts of Italy 🇮🇹, I knew I would come face to face with the iconic delicacies of Prosciutto, Pancetta, Salmi, and the entire spectrum of Italian cold-cut cured meats 🥩. When I heard there were two amazing women in the volcanic hills of Mount Amiata, Tuscany who cracked the code to these ancient Italian delicacies while simultaneously saving a wild pig species from extinction, I had to find out...and taste...for myself. . Giovanna and Tinti successfully rediscovered the thought-to-be extinct species of wild pig, the Macciarola🐷. Through strategic breeding and careful conservation practices this dynamic duo now watches over the only herd of Macchiarola in the world🌎 Their artisanal preparation of Italian cold cuts from Macchiarola takes the story of their success a step further. The meat of the Macchiarola is just as rare as the species itself and yields flavor and nutrition like no other! . Watch and learn alongside me as these women walk me through their journey of saving species and sticking to the artisanal routes of Italian cold cuts. I can guarantee you this is the RAREST PROSCIUTTO IN THE WORLD and as far as I am concerned, it is the TASTIEST as well! 😋 . #coldcuts #italiancoldcuts #prosciutto #pancetta #lonza #Macchiarola #Macchiarolapig #endangerdspecies #savingspecies #animalconservation #pigfarm #italianmeats #pigs #rarepigs #rarespecies #Italianfood #Italy #uniquefood #Food #LearningtoCook #Cooking #FarmtoTable #Biodynamic #Organicchef #Chef #Worldtravel #Travelexperience #Travel #SavasOnTheGo #MonthintheMaking #Tuscany #Tuscanchef #Tuscanyitaly #VillaMontecasello #Sustainablefood #Organicmeal #Cookingclass

Biodynamic Wine Tour of Italy: Becoming a Culinary Artisan in Italy | Ep. 17 Month in the Making

Everyone comes to Italy 🇮🇹 to drink wine 🍷, so I took it a step further and take you guys behind the scenes of how some of the world's finest wine is produced from the ground up di ... literally. Biodynamic farming 🌾 is an interesting philosophy and practice that eliminates the use of pesticides and artificial chemicals from the farming process entirely in order to enrich the natural processes that have the potential to bring out the most flavor from the harvest. The fine winery of Podere Le Ripi was gracious enough to walk me through their approach to cultivating some of the finest grapes 🍇 in Italy 🇮🇹 and thus some of the highest quality wine in the world🌎. Join me as I bring you into a whole new side of the world of wine 🍷 . If Italy is renowned for one thing beyond its food, it is its rich culture of wine! Thousands of tourists and wine enthusiasts come from across the world to Italy to bless their palettes in the heartland of this iconic beverage. In my pursuit of understanding more of the history of Wine, a more profound and concept and philosophy demanded to be told beyond the rich flavor and aromas of Italian wine. I believe Biodynamic Farming sheds light on potential remedies for the struggle of our modern agricultural industry today. Yes, the wine was delicious! However, understanding how the flavor is a product of the relationship amongst the vines, animals, and humans brings a whole new perspective of appreciation to the table.. . The Boys of Bahia: Capoeria in the Streets of Salvador | Ep.12 | Month In The Making

Chapter 3 of Month in the Making goes out with a bang, and many kicks, and many flips! For the past four weeks, I have trained side by side with Mestre Nenê to master the martial art of Capoeira in the heart of Brazil. Last week I earned my green cord and officially became part of the Capoeira world. This week Mestre Nenê and I take to the streets of Salvador da Bahia to put my Capoeira skills to the test. Salvador da Bahia is one of the cultural cradles of Capoeira and it didn’t take long to see why. The streets of Salvador are crowded with Capoeira Rodas making it the perfect arena to unleash my newfound Capoeira moves. . Hopping into random Rodas, starting our own, and even studying with the world-renowned Mestre Boca Rica, my Capoeira skills are now battle-tested and ready to come with me wherever this Month in the Making journey takes me next. It was another 4 weeks that seemed to last 4 days … even though my body remembers each one of the hundreds of workouts/training that Mestre Nenê put us through. After an entire month of living, breathing, and most definitely sweating Capoeria, I now realize the motivation behind Mestre Nenê’s passion to share the wisdom, power, and lifestyle of Capoeira with everyone he meets. . Make sure to SHARE THIS VIDEO with all your Capoeira friends! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like, Subscribe, and Turn On Notifications because Month in the Making is not slowing down! Ever since I watched the movie "Only the Strong" I have been hooked on the idea of learning Capoeira. I finally witnessed Capoeira first hand during my Semester at Sea voyage and knew it was for me. Now I am in the heart of Brazil 🇧🇷 on the beautiful island of Ilhabela 🏝 with the mission to master this beautiful martial art with the help of Mestre Nene! I am immersing myself in the culture of Capoeira as a student of Mestre Nene. This crazy master lives, breaths, and eats Capoeira. Mestre Nene insists that Capoeira is not just rhythmic movements, but a lifestyle. After a week full of Capoeira I can tell there is more than music and movement but can't yet explain what it is. You'll have to watch and discover for yourself!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Like, Subscribe, and Turn On Notifications because Month in the Making is not slowing down! The Colombian Coffee Experience with a Side of Salsa | Ep.8 | Month In The Making

In our last week in Colombia, we head out of Cali for a road trip north to Medellín. My mission to master salsa in one month takes us to the stunning streets of Colombia’s historic pueblos to the towering heights of the tallest palm trees in the world. Karol didn’t trust my salsa skills to fly solo just yet, so she tags along and we continue to show Colombia what this fresh Salsero has to offer! I reignite a friendship after more than a decade with an amazing woman who built her own home nestled in the Colombian jungle, and is now growing her own coffee…on her own Finca…while rasing a 7-month old! She is amazing, and the vista from atop her coffee Finca provided the perfect dance floor and place to celebrate my new partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (linked below). The Adventure Travel Trade Association is the world’s foremost body on adventure travel representing tour operators, travelers, and local communities alike. Their mission is to empower the global travel community to protect natural and cultural capital while creating economic value that benefits both trade members and destinations. This partnership extends beyond me and to you. Follow along as I share new knowledge about how we can save this planet through conscious travel 🌎 . Chapter 2, Country 2, and Skill 2 flew by in the blink of an eye. It is surreal to think it was only last week that I took the stage of El Mulato Caberet and showed the world my unique mix of Salsa Caleña and Pat Swayze! The sights, sounds, and flavors, of Colombia, were almost as sweet as the people I met along the way. Thank you to my new Cali family that joined and supported me in this chapter of my mission to master 12 skills in 12 countries. . Month in the Making- EP.4 | Adventure in Nosara Costa Rica farms | SavasONtheGo. Hi Champions! This is episode four of 'Month in the Making' and my last week in Costa Rica. In this episode, we go back to Nosara to do some local adventures with my buddies. The Mayor and Superintendent of Nosara, Carlos Armando Martínez, and his brother gave us a local tour of Nosara farmlands. We arrived at Nosara Farms, a true gem in the Keystone Rural area, where we saw the aftermath of Hurricane Eta— destroyed homes, flooding, and livestock and supplies pushed down. I hung out with Krissy Crash, a fitness & nutrition expert, and joined her podcast episode. Since our flight got canceled we decided to do a DIY style impromptu triathlon with Chrissy – swim, bike/roller skate, and run! And that's how we would say goodbye to Nosara, Costa Rica, where we've been since Day 1. We'll miss you Ride On Beach House. See you on the next episode of Month In The Making! 🤙🏼 If you enjoyed this video, please like, share, and comment!
